An October Weekend in Rosemary Beach

A Full Circle Moment

Returning to a favorite little coastal town, this time as a family of three.

Last October, I visited Rosemary Beach with my mom, just weeks after finding out I was expecting our first baby. I immediately fell in love with the charming coastal town, its quiet streets, beautiful beaches, and slower pace of life. I remember thinking how lovely it would be to return one day with our baby.

While wandering through the shops, I picked out a tiny green romper, long before we knew whether we were having a boy or a girl.

Before our daughter was even born, I had booked our first family vacation back to Rosemary Beach. Almost exactly a year later, we returned as a family of three. We wandered the same streets, visited the same shops, and found ourselves back in the very store where I’d picked out that tiny romper. Only this time, our daughter was there with us.

The Beauty of Slow Mornings

One of my favorite things about our weekend was how slowly the mornings unfolded. Without an itinerary or anywhere we needed to be, we could simply enjoy our time together.

Our mornings began with banana bread lattes from Third Cup, followed by leisurely walks through the quiet streets and along the beach. With our little one bundled beneath a blanket, we wandered without much of a plan, admiring the beautiful landscape, cobblestone pathways, and glimpses of the ocean from everywhere we stood.

Looking back, it was those ordinary little moments that made the trip feel so special. Coffee in hand, our baby tucked close, and a whole morning ahead of us to spend however we pleased.

Days by the Sea

We spent much of our days by the water, enjoying the warm October sunshine and the slower pace of life at the beach. Some afternoons were spent lounging in the sand, while others turned into long walks along the shore or leisurely lunches on a patio.

It was our first time experiencing a place we already loved through the eyes of our daughter. Even the simplest things felt a little more special with her there.

There were no elaborate plans or packed schedules. Just a few days of sunshine, salty air, good food, and time together as our little family of three.

A Weekend to Remember

A year ago, I walked these same streets dreaming of what it might be like to return someday with our baby. This time, she was here with us, and somehow the place felt even more special than I remembered.

There is something so sweet about returning to a familiar place in a completely different season of life. What was once a little getaway became the setting for some of our very first memories as a family of three.

I know there will be many more family vacations, new places to discover, and memories to make. But I hope I’ll always remember this weekend just as it was. Our first little getaway, with our whole world right there beside us.
